Too cute!

Day two of Soccer camp 08

Off for day two of Soccer Camp 08

I know I know, don't say it. Where does the time go?

My heart was stolen over nine years ago when this little guy was born. It is really hard to believe he is nine and going into the fourth grade.

Today he doesn't think I am such a great Mom. When we signed up for Soccer camp he was excited because he loves the game. However, when we showed up yesterday for the first day he realized it wasn't going to be an easy camp. Several camp instructors are retired professional Soccer players and it is full blown soccer from 9 am - 3pm. In other words, he has to work really hard at something.
When I picked him up yesterday he said it was half okay. I asked what did he mean it was half okay? The story is...they were instructed to bring flip flops (I didn't know what for), so I sent him with his crocks. That didn't go over so good. Apparently they have to use their sandals to walk into the Arena to eat lunch. He was told by an older kid that he looked silly with his crocks on. Yup, his feelings were hurt big time.

So Dad and I gave him the big pick-me-up speech last night. Told him how to deal with controversy and how to stand up and ignore people etc. But he begged me not to go back. He didn't know anybody at the camp etc.

There was no way I couldn't send him. This will be a challenging week for both of us. It breaks my heart to know he feels intimidated, but I wouldn't teach him anything if I let him give up. I know if he faces his fears and is pushed hard to accomplish something, he will come out a huge winner this week in and off the field.

Even though he begged to go only half-day, when we got to camp this morning he ran right out onto the field with no hesitations. I was a happy Mom.

Happy Birthday Michael with lots of love from Mom, Dad and Meagan - You are our Soccer Star!

All I see is ORANGE, and some purple....

Well, be honest. What do you think? The color really hasn't truly grown on me yet. My son and husband love it. I think I am just going to take my time with the accessories and rug to pull it all together. The room definitely needs lots of light. The color is "pumpkin spice" by Benjamin Moore.

The inspiration was the bed spread my son picked out from Pottery Barn.

My Mother in-law was in town this weekend (her b-day and my sons) and she proceeded to tell me that someone from Design Star was kicked off for using this color? Oh boy...

I will definitely keep you updated with the final details as I proceed with this ORANGE room. As long as my son is happy, I am happy, I think :)

My daughters lovely color, which I do love by the way, is "french Violet" also Benjamin Moore. Her bedding is from The Land of Nod. I am hoping to have the rooms pulled together this week.

Future Decorator of America little Miss Meagan.
After I stopped freaking out because she wanted to help, I just stepped back and let her work. She really did a great job.
Off to pick out window coverings....
Enjoy your day, T

Summer at last!....

*Before pictures of my Summer projects. Looking at the pictures the walls look great already. However, in real life they are dirty and my daughter has had this room since she was born and she will be 7 in November. Not to mention she has glued her favorite pictures on the walls etc. I love the stripes, but it is time for them to go. They both are at an age where they have major input on the final design. My daughter insisted on purple again (her favorite color) and my son insisted on orange. Of course I will reveal the final outcome. Be patient though, slow going this Summer :)

This is where we are spending most of our time this Summer...in the backyard.

You know how things don't always go according to plan? Well, I should have made one for the first week off of school. For no plans, we sure are busy. How does that work?

Next week I will have a little break when we start soccer camp. For now, I'll do a little here and a little there with the kids room. I am just taking a relaxed attitude about the project and when the rooms get done, they get done. Then, off to our Master bedroom...
I'll keep you posted on the projects.

Happy Summer,

T
